Ting Tings

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Long time no post. Here’s a recent self-promo illo I did of the Ting Tings. While I’m not a fan of all their songs, a few of them are fantastic, and I just adore the juxtaposition of Flailing Hipster Chick Singer with Stoic Sunglasses Man.

And of course, the dailies continue as always.

Del Nouveau

Friday, May 21st, 2010

How did I forget to post this? I finished this a couple weeks ago! It’s a companion to my Death Nouveau piece from last year, and it’ll be in a fanart show at 8-bit at the beginning of June, as well as at Fan Expo at the end of the summer in print form.

Also, new shirt up for voting on Threadless!
ATTACK! - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

(This was actually a part of a piece I did in first year – I even had to retrace it from the final jpg, even though it was in vector originally, because I just couldn’t find the old files from 4 years back. Durr.)

Go Go Belated CanZine Post!

Monday, November 9th, 2009

I completely forgot that I hadn’t blogged about CanZine yet. But it was good!

Via The Torontoist

(From The Torontoist – Myself, Karen, and Yien at our tables.)

I sold copies of the 24 Hour Comic, as well as my bad movie zine, which went over pretty well! For you, dear readers, here’s some of the bad movie art.

Mythbusters Redux

This one might look a little familiar to some… I’ve been meaning to recolor this one for a while, since I’ve learned quite a lot since I first colored it almost a year ago!

Freeze ray. Stops time. Tell your friends.

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

I’m going to be at Toronto Fan Expo this weekend, with a gaggle of friends, selling art and the like. Here’s two new pieces (of fanart) that’ll be on sale:

Dr Horrible vs Captain Hammer

Yes, I still seem to suffer from some bizarre stylistic schizophrenia. This blog looks like it’s kept by 18 different people, not one girl who cannot make up her mind. It’s not that I CAN’T keep to one style, it’s just that there’s so many fun ones out there to play with…

Also, you may notice a slight facelift to the blog… my portfolio has also got a proper redesign! Check it out!

FOR THE HORDE PROJECT ROOFTOP!!

Wolverine

Oh god I can’t remember the last time I coloured this way. Seriously, it’s been years. And Wolverine looks like a fireman clown in a marching band. From space.

At least he’s not a mountie this time.

Canada. Snkt. Bub.

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Like so many awesome things in my life, this is Karen’s fault.

Welcome to Canada, bub.

Not my real Project Rooftop entry (just a stupid sketchbook thing, really) but it may end up submitted anyhow because it’s… just… oh god what did I spend my evening doing. D:

Besides, what other Canadian superheroes have we GOT? Northstar? Pfft.

Yienfest ‘09

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

So we just had a huge birthday bash for my lovely roomie Yien, and many of us made her gifts. I did her a little painting. (First time in something like a year I’ve done full-on traditional media, too.)

Wall-E For Yien

She likes Pixar, and thus – Wall-E meets Ratatouille. I’m rather proud of it, and she seemed to like it a lot too. Hoorah for Yien!

But that’s nothing compared to what others did. Dani made her a giant 30-eyed monster. That was SQUISHY.

And Mike and Rosemary did this fab Coraline doll. Mike’s got some detail shots up at his blog.

Happy B-Day, Yien. Hope the year gets better for you now you’re full of cake and have things to play with. =)

Commish

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

First, if you missed it, check out my post from earlier today.

So anyhow, remember how I was pimping out commissions? I got one! And a month later, this emerges. Thanks for commissioning me, Jai.

Mythbusters

Interp! Note how it is not, in fact, David Usher this time. God, I love Mythbusters. Part of it is the geek in me who loves figuring things out and seeing science used in new and interesting ways. Most of it, however, is probably simply that I love watching the unbridled glee of grown men as they blow things up for no scientifically defensible reason.
